Countertop Fabrication in Riverside, CA: Your Slab, Cut and Finished in Our Shop

Riverside Custom Countertops handles countertop fabrication in Riverside, CA, cutting and finishing your slab in our own shop instead of subbing it out. Granite, engineered quartz, quartzite, marble, porcelain, soapstone, butcher block and post-formed high-pressure laminate all run through the same building.

Fabrication is the step that decides where your seam lands, whether the ogee edge reads crisp under cabinet lighting, and whether the undermount sink reveal stays even front to back. We template digitally, lay your top out on a photograph of your actual slab before a saw touches stone, and pre-machine the sink and cooktop details before the piece leaves the shop.

We fabricate for homeowners, remodelers and builders across Riverside County, from Canyon Crest and Mission Grove out to Arlanza, La Sierra and Casa Blanca, with trucks on State Route 91, State Route 60 and Interstate 215 most days.

01

What Countertop Fabrication Actually Covers

Fabrication is everything between the slab in the rack and the finished top on your cabinets. Measuring the room digitally. Choosing the layout. Cutting the outline, sink hole, faucet bores and cooktop opening. Shaping and polishing the edge. Building the seams. Stone is cut and finished with routers, grinders and CNC, and that is where a real shop separates itself from a yard that only sells material.

02

Digital Templating and dxf Files

We template with a digital measuring system rather than sticks and hot glue. The templater captures the cabinet run, wall irregularities, appliance openings and overhang, then exports the geometry as a dxf file that drives the CNC directly. Nothing gets retyped and nothing gets rounded off. Older houses in the Northside and Eastside neighborhoods rarely have square corners, and a digital template records the wall as it is.

03

Slab Photography and Virtual Layout

Before cutting, we photograph your slab and place the template pieces on that image. You see which vein runs across the island, where the movement lands on the sink cut, and what gets sacrificed to the cooktop. On larger kitchens we build multi-slab layouts and offer them for customer inspection, so you approve the arrangement first.

04

Cutting: Bridge Saw, Waterjet and CNC

Straight rips, miters and slab breakdown go on the bridge saw. Interior cuts, tight radii and inside corners go to the waterjet, which cuts cold and stresses the material less than a blade turning a corner. The CNC router then profiles edges, drills faucet holes and finishes the sink opening in one setup. Hand grinders come out last for fitting and blending. For volume work, cut-to-size processing near the quarry trims shipped waste, and cut-to-size stone starts at 600mm widths.

Fancier edges cost more because they take more labor, not because of the material.

06

Sink and Cooktop Pre-Machining

Cutouts happen in the shop, on the machine, not on your kitchen floor. Undermount sinks need a polished edge inside the opening plus a silicone seal, which is why they carry an upcharge over a self-rimming drop-in that clamps from below and hides its cut. Solid surface sinks are glued and sanded until the joint disappears. Stainless integrated sinks are welded and ground flat. Cooktop corners get radii sized so the material does not crack.

07

Seams, Book-Matching, Radius and Waterfall Work

Seams are a design decision. We place them where a joint reads as an intentional line, usually behind a sink or at a change of direction, and book-match veined slabs so the pattern mirrors across the joint. Waterfall panels are mitered so the vein runs down the leg unbroken. Curved bar tops and radius returns are cut on the CNC, then hand blended. Solid surface joints leave almost no visible trace. Post-formed laminate always carries seams, which self-edge and wood-edge construction minimize.

08

The Post-Formed Laminate Line

Laminate is still the most economical countertop on the market and we fabricate it properly. High-pressure laminate is kraft paper, decorative papers and melamine resins bonded under heat and pressure over 45 pound particle board, MDF or plywood. Our line runs infeed, the CorFab machine, automated laminating, indexing, a pinch roller, the postforming machine, the AutoCove machine and the trim saw. Sheets run .030 to .040 inch, rough lengths 8, 10 and 12 foot. PVA water-based adhesive has replaced solvent contact cement. Field work covers length cuts, miters, assembly and end capping.

We fabricate granite countertops in Riverside, quartz countertops in Riverside, marble countertops, quartzite slabs, soapstone countertops, porcelain countertops, butcher block tops, concrete countertops, recycled glass surfaces, travertine countertops and laminate countertops in Riverside. Standard thicknesses run 2cm and 3cm in natural stone, 12mm, 20mm and 30mm in engineered stone.

10

Silica Safety in the Shop

Cutting and processing engineered quartz produces respirable silica dust, and silicosis can result from breathing it. California had documented 500 silicosis cases among fabrication workers as of January 2026, with 72 percent of shops non-compliant with federal silica dust standards, and the state approved emergency regulations in December 2023. The controls work: wet cutting on every saw and router, local exhaust ventilation at the dust source, and fitted respiratory protection. Ask any Riverside fabricator whether they dry cut. A shop that takes its own people seriously tends to take your kitchen seriously too.

11

What Moves the Price of Fabrication

We quote in writing after templating. What moves the number: material choice and how many slabs your layout consumes, edge profile complexity, seam count, sink and cooktop cutouts, tear-out and disposal, backsplash, plumbing reconnect, overhang support brackets, delivery, and stair access on hillside lots in Hawarden Hills or Alessandro Heights. Nothing is guessed over the phone.

12

How the Job Runs

Free in-home consultation, slab selection, digital templating. You approve the virtual layout. Fabrication follows in the shop, then delivery, installation, seam setting, sink hookup coordination and a walkthrough. Riverside Custom Countertops is licensed and insured.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Or call us on (951) 589-3336. Calls only — we do not receive text messages.

Do you fabricate in Riverside or ship the work out?

We fabricate locally. Templating, cutting, edge profiling and cutouts happen in our own shop, which keeps revisions fast.

How long does fabrication take after templating?

Most kitchens move from template to installation inside a normal remodel window. We put the date in writing when you approve the layout.

Can I see my slab before you cut it?

Yes. We photograph the slab and show you the virtual layout, and on multi-slab jobs we present the full arrangement first.

Do you fabricate a slab I bought somewhere else?

Often yes. We inspect it for fissures and thickness first, because we own what comes off our saw.

Is quartz safe to fabricate?

Yes, when it is wet cut with local exhaust ventilation and respiratory protection. Those controls exist because dry cutting engineered stone caused documented silicosis cases in California.

What edge profile is easiest to live with?

An eased or half bullnose edge on a 3cm top. It chips less than a delicate profile.

Can you match a seam so it disappears?

We place seams intelligently and book-match veining across them. Natural stone seams stay visible on close inspection. Solid surface joints come closest to invisible.

Do you serve my ZIP code?

We cover Riverside 92501 to 92509, plus Corona, Eastvale, Norco, Jurupa Valley, Perris, Moreno Valley, Colton, Grand Terrace, Redlands and Fontana.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. The in-home consultation and written quote are free.
